Lauderdale Airport North Cruise Port is a 109-room value hotel. The location isn’t the most desirable, with a shopping center across the street and a large parking lot surrounding the grounds; nothing much is within walking distance. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, but no on-site restaurant, although there is a gift shop with snacks. There is a free buffet-style breakfast every morning. The rooms are basic but clean, with a cookie-cutter style that could belong in any of the chain’s hotels nationwide.

Southland Shopping Center sits across the street and has limited options for food; most shopping, restaurant, and entertainment options are all driving distance away. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is a five- to 10-minute drive and the hotel offers a free shuttle to and from upon request. Port Everglades, where most cruise ships dock, is five minutes away by car. As part of a nationwide value hotel chain, Hampton Inn Ft. Lauderdale Airport North Cruise Port gets the job done, but doesn't do much more than expected. Though, we do miss not having twice daily service like other cruise lines. The service throughout the ship was friendly and efficient. In fact, the service on Carnival Celebration was better than some of our more recent cruises on premium cruise lines. Platinums also get complimentary wash-and-fold laundry service (with a limit of two to five bags, depending on the length of the cruise). During the evenings, there is an official dress code, but it's pretty laid-back. Most nights are designated "cruise casual," which means just that — khakis or jeans, polo shirts, sundresses, etc.

The best ship in the Carnival fleet according to reviews is the Carnival Breeze. While not the newest ship in the fleet, she is the most well-rounded. Itineraries are interesting, cruises are good value and there is loads to see and do on the ship for all ages. Of all the ocean cruise lines, Carnival’s fleet is one of the biggest. There are currently 27 ships in the fleet, from the oldest still in operation (Carnival Sunshine) right up to Carnival Jubilee and Carnival Firenze, the newest in the fleet. My other biggest hope with the Disney Treasure is that it’ll correct unforced layout errors with the Disney Wish. For example, the Star Wars bar is constantly crowded and demand to get in far exceeds available space. As a result, there’s frequently congestion in the area outside Hyperspace Lounge…and at all of the bars in this ‘district’ of the ship.
Each Disney ship has three included restaurants that guests and their dining team rotate through each night in either an early or late dinner seating. That’s a really tough needle to thread, as usually these are two very different types of architecture–I’d normally expect Agrabah to feature a lot of ornate detail, patterns, and texture. Still, I’m hopeful and optimistic that Imagineering can stick the landing on this, as the concept is really intriguing and much better, in my view, than the atrium of the Wish. Since this site often trafficks in Walt Disney World comparisons, think of the Treasure and Wish as being akin to the Yacht and Beach Club, whereas the earlier ships are the BoardWalk Inn. Highly imperfect comparison, but should convey the general idea of what to expect in terms of similarities and differences.
